Hi all. We just got in a really cool addition to our vintage family. "CHUNKY", the 1956 Gibson Les Paul TV Special has arrived. This is one of the nicest 50's Les Paul's I have had in years....The finish looks new other than a few nicks here and there. Chunky features two super fat sounding P-90 pickups and a nice "chunky" neck profile. The original frets have almost no wear. Sadly, the original case was abandoned years ago. Hi all. We just got in a really cool addition to our vintage family. "Feather", the 1956 Esquire has graced us with her presence. She is by far the lightest vintage Fender guitar I have ever seen. Her maple neck hardly shows any fingerboard wear too! I'll get her exact weight and post it shortly..She comes with the original tweed case which still features the original Fender metal tag on the top lid. We all know how impossible it is to find a 50's tweed case where the Fender tag is still attached. Here's a few pics..Enjoy!

Hi all. I just got back today from a really fun trip to Cleveland via a short stop in Chicago..While there I had the pleasure of meeting with Bob C., and purchased his beautiful 1952 black guard Telecaster which his father bought new in 1952!! Bob was an incredible guy and he kept me amazed at the many stories related to his dad, his family and this wonderful piece of Fender history! This awesome guitar has hardly any fingerboard wear and is 100% original. It plays and sounds as good as it looks. Check out the photos below of Bob and me with the guitar and Bob playing his father's pride and joy circa 1960. Too cool!! Thanks Bob, for your kindness and hospitality. I had a great trip, one which I will remember for a long long time.

Road Trip!!!

Well, I'm leaving Friday on another guitar buying journey. This time I'm off to Cleveland, OH to capture one of the true holy grails of vintage guitars...a late 1951 early 1952 black guard Telecaster. This one is a one owner all original example in really clean condition. The original owner did an amazing job keeping the guitar in great condition for the last 57 years!! I'll be posting pics of it when I get back from my trip late on Friday evening. I'll also post some pics to our website, www.webuystrats.com, of the original owner playing the guitar when he was much younger. Have fun!!

Todays Vintage Guitar Spotlight 1979 Gibson Explorer E2

I purchased a nice 1979 Gibson Explorer E2 today..It's in near mint condition and belonged to a soldier named Michael who is about to be deployed in Iraq. He mentioned that he is involved with computers and wouldn't see any active combat. Good luck and be safe Michael Here's a pic of the guitar. I'll post a high res image later on when I have the time to take some pics.

Gibson made about forty of the original Explorers in 1958/1959. Some actually shipped in 1963 as well. I guess Gibson had some leftovers that were unsold. The original Explorer featured two humbucking pickups and were made from Korina wood. An original near mint example will bring around $350,000-500,000 in today's market. Have fun! Bob Feldman

HI there from vintage guitar land! I decided to take the advice of my friend Deborah Carter, proprietor of Pink Hair Salon here in Austin, Texas and create a blog devoted to my love for vintage guitars. Here it is Deb!! This is the first of what hopefully will be many posts of my daily exploits in my never-ending-quest for buying the world's finest vintage guitars. A by product of seeking out and purchasing these cool pieces of musical history takes me to many exciting places and I get to meet many interesting people along the way. I'd be honored to share those experiences with you. From time to time I will post some interesting bits of information that can help us all properly identify vintage guitars.
